In February, 2015, our news agency welcomed a new member to our team: a DJI Inspire 1 aerial imaging platform. It's a small unmanned, radio-controlled quadcopter capable of capturing 4K Ultra HD video footage as well as 12MP still images from a stabilized, three-axis, 360-degree undercarriage imaging mount.
This state-of-the-art small Unmanned Aircraft System will allow us to capture news from a vantage point that pre-viously would have been impossible with traditional aircraft.
DMG will be applying for one or more sUAS Operator Certificates under Part 107 rules released by the Federal Aviation Administration. This program allows commercial integration of drones under 55 pounds into America's national air-space. We had previously applied for a Section 333 exemption, prior to FAA releasing its final regulations.
As a result of these changes, we're now training to comply with these rules and determine how to best incorporate the benefits of drone journalism into our business model.
We have adopted the community-based flight safety rules of the Academy of Model Aeronautics and code of ethics of the Professional Society of Drone Journalists. In addition, we have also obtained $2.5 million of liability insurance.
